Couples Therapy

Dr. Lynette Long works with couples to improve communication and intimacy, resolve marital conflicts, and provide greater satisfaction for both partners. At the initial consultation, Dr. Long assesses the relationship between the two partners on ten factors:

  • Communication Styles
  • Intellectual Compatibility
  • Emotional Compatibility
  • Financial Goals and Spending Patterns
  • Religion and Spiritual Goals
  • Sexual satisfaction
  • Recreational Interests and Compatibility
  • Life Goals
  • Parenting Styles
  • Friends and Family

This initial assessment is intended to help determine the “hotspots” and guide the couple’s therapy. The Couples Therapy process cools down “hotspots” and addresses other problematic issues. The therapist will provide a safe space for partners to address sensitive or explosive issues.

It is important to note that during the couples therapy, “the couple” is the patient and both partners will have to change in order to grow the relationship. Couples therapy will include homework such as listening exercises, intimacy exercises, play dates, and recommended readings.

Couples sessions are for 60 minutes and meet weekly.
